Nature Walk: End of September
I headed to Starkey Park for a nature walk this morning. The sun was bright, the temperature about 58F and the wind blowing just like it does during the transitional seasons of spring and fall. New England asters and bright goldenrod put a smile on my face immediately.
Loving Walden
Henry David Thoreau, the father of American nature writing and so-called inventor of the modern memoir, lived in and wrote about a place of very ordinary beauty. In fact Thoreau wrote, “The scenery of Walden is on a humble scale, and, though very beautiful, does not approach grandeur.”
