Happy Birthday Louisa May Alcott!

Yesterday was Louisa May Alcott’s birthday! On November 29 in 1832 Louisa entered the world, destined to bring so much joy and delight to millions of readers through her writing, the most famous of which is Little Women.

Louisa led a very hard life, including many years not having quite enough food. (Apples did form a large part of the family diet and even gave name to the home Louisa lived in for many years—Orchard House). Louisa’s struggles became the sacrifice required to provide the world with soul food so rich it would feed us for generations.

We discuss Louisa’s life and her landscapes, as well as some prominent influences on her life (like Henry David Thoreau) inside one of the Nature & Nurture courses. If you love literature and nature, or know someone who does, this course, filled with history, watercolor instruction, nature walks, and tea times, might be just the gift you need!
